I often hear the debate about can the nice girl get the corner office or in other words, is she too nice to be the boss? Well, I see no reason why not! She is the one you most want to be around and the one you most want to impress so why the heck can't she be the one you respect as a leader?
Sure there is the double-edged side of being the boss - there are times when you have to be a bit strict which can sometimes be perceived as "mean". But so long as employees recognize that you are just doing your job, there is no reason for anyone to question whether you are being mean vs. just being a good leader that everyone can respect.
And let's not forget about the fact that if you are a good team player with leadership tendencies, than you can actually manage and delegate to get more done, more effectively across the group than anyone else. If they like you, they will want to help you, especially if you take the time to reward others and treat them as you would like to be treated. It is the oldest rule in the book - the golden rule - and the ticket to the golden promotion!
So, get out there nice girls and be the best you can be! I guarantee that it will not go unnoticed that you are the one that everyone wants to impress and are impressed with, putting you in the perfect position for a promotion... and who wouldn't want to meet with you in that corner office with the nice view to the outside world?!? I know I will stop in!
